Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sept. 17, 2020) – Tucker Boulton was probably starting to wonder if he was going to race again in 2020.

It’s been one obstacle after another this year. Boulton endured an injury to start the season before the COVID-19 pandemic halted his racing efforts. Over the last month, rain has pounded the Mid-South and kept Boulton at home.

That changed last weekend when Boulton finally got a break in the weather. He took advantage of it, positing a solid top-five finish in the 305ci sprint car feature at I-30 Speedway on Saturday.

“It felt good to get back to the track,” he said. “It was funny, we were sitting here working on the car in the driveway on some last-minute things. We were getting ready to start it and it was a downpour of rain. We drove in the rain to Little Rock and then sunshine.

“We were real happy with that finish. We haven’t run this car anywhere but Riverside, so to take it to I-30 and not know how it was going to run there, we figured it out pretty quickly. It worked pretty well for us.”

Boulton and his team adjusted quickly after rolling into the pit area. He passed three cars in his heat race to finish fourth, which put him in good position for the feature.

In the main event, Boulton drove into the top five and was able to maintain. He came away with a solid fifth-place finish and learned more about the car.

It was a good evaluation and a confidence boost for the team, and it couldn’t have come at a better time with the Grassroots Nationals at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., looming this Saturday.

“It’s real weird to still be running a bright orange and white car, which isn’t our colors,” Boulton said. “To go out there in someone else’s car and do well is really good. It gives us a lot of confidence going into this week with it being our home track. We learned to race there.”

Saturday’s show is with the Midsouth 305 Sprint Car Association. Boulton is tied for second in the championship standings. He ranks third in the Riverside International Speedway 305 standings.
